DEDICATED TO:

RYAN WHITE
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ryan Wayne White (December 6, 1971 April 8, 1990) was an American teenager from Kokomo, Indiana who became a national poster child for HIV/AIDS in the United States after being expelled from school because of his infection. A hemophiliac, he became infected with HIV from a contaminated blood treatment and, when diagnosed in 1984, was given six months to live. Though doctors said he posed no risk to other students, AIDS was poorly understood at the time, and when White tried to return to school, many parents and teachers in Kokomo rallied against his attendance.[2] A lengthy legal battle with the school system ensued, and media coverage of the struggle made White into a national celebrity and spokesman for AIDS research and public education. He appeared frequently in the media with celebrities such as Elton John, Michael Jackson and Phil Donahue. Surprising his doctors, White lived five years longer than predicted and died in April 1990, shortly before he would have completed high school.
Before White, AIDS was a disease widely associated with the male homosexual community, because it was first diagnosed there. That perception shifted as White and other prominent HIV-infected people, such as Magic Johnson, the Ray brothers and Kimberly Bergalis, appeared in the media to advocate for more AIDS research and public education to address the epidemic. The U.S. Congress passed a major piece of AIDS legislation, the Ryan White Care Act, shortly after White's death. The Act was reauthorized in 2006 and again on October 30, 2009; its Ryan White Programs are the largest provider of services for people living with HIV/AIDS in the United States.

Honoring a Legend: Heavenly Angel Octavia St. Laurent

Here are 3 unreleased tracks by Octavia St. Laurent. She gave them to me herself before she passed away. I will miss her. Most people know Ms. Octavia from the famous documentary Paris Is Burning. This isn't disco but one of her R&B Jazz numbers and a House song along with an accapella.

Donny Marie Osmond - Winning Combination

Not the best quality rip but I thought I would share what I found on the net. I can't believe it, I had to list this as disco soul. I'm really surprised. I know sharing stuff u didn't rip is cheating but I just was so surprised that this is not actually bad. Though honestly if it was just Donny it would have been better. It was produced by Holland Dozer Holland. Marie's voice ruins a few of the tracks.

By The Way

Would it be too much to ask to get a comment or 2 about the music if you like it? I mean we all love the music and we all love free music, but music isn't free for someone. Bloggers who post these records spend their time and effort, not to mention money to bring these rare grooves to the public. Its nice to hear a word or 2 of thanks.

Marvin Gaye - In Our Lifetime 1981

This has got to be the most unique music to come from the master of the love groove. Nothing lovey dovey on this album but there are some rare funk and disco gems that must be heard. Unfortunatly the metal ring of a note book of mine got pressed up against the vinyl and scratched the first 2 tracks on side A. So I don't have them included in the rip. Its ok though cause they aren't the best goodies any how. Please enjoy.

Gwen Guthrie - Ain't Nothin' Goin' On But The Rent 12 inch

Ok. I finally have a download to share to go with the main video here. Everyone should know this as a bonified classic. Its a smooth mid-tempo Garage style boogie wall shaker. I have loved this song ever since I first heard it on Soul Train in 1986. Ok I'm dating myself, i was 11. LOL. Sadly Ms. Guthrie passed away all too soon from Cancer in 1999. Its so sad when great voices leave the earth.

So as always please click the pic to enjoy.

Dr. York - York

Love this rare groove movement. So hard to find. This is the 1985 reissue of the album. Not sure when the original came out.

Dr. York was the man behind the group Passion of Prelude Records fame. He also founded the fraternal order The Ancient Egiptian Order.

I was surprised to find it on ebay since it is so rare. I want the red vinyl copy too. Anyone care to send me a gift? LOL. Click the Pic to Enjoy.

Fingers 1979 LP Disco Jazz

http://www.discogs.com/Fingers-Fingers/release/1258591

Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot of information about this one off pairing of Michael Ford (6) & Chris Adams (6).

They made this Disco Jazz album and must have made this classic and fallen off the earth. There is a lot of funk and jazz influence and no ballads here. Just pure dancing bliss for all.

Apparently this was a New York underground gay classic. However that suggestion brought up some controversy on Discogs.
I was able to snag a copy of it for myself on eBay for a really good price. Now a month or 2 later you all will be able to hear it in its complete grandeur. Sadly because they used such a common name its really difficult to find any info online about them. Its damn near impossible to find on Discogs let alone any other website. So hope you all enjoy this one off NYC dance classic as much as I do. Besides loving the cover, I mean what's not to love about a sexy glow in the dark banana phallic symbol?

Been Lazy Lately

Disco lovers forgive me, for I have sinned. Its been countless weeks since my last vinyl rip and Blog post. LOL. I just havn't been taking the time to devote to ripping any of my records. I'm an avid Discogs.com contributor and still have a ton of scans to do of the covers of records I own that have either no artwork or very poor image quality and size. Oh, not to mention I have over 5,000 MP3 files in iTunes and probably another couple hundred MP3s I still need to organize into my Soulseek sharing files and I'm like way meticulous with music organization. LOL.

Plus I snoozed on an opportunity to publish some tracks for Sky Covington's upcoming Nikki-O Project album. At the same time as one of my own releases is coming out. 2 tracks feature my vocals and 2 tracks are my productions. This will be my second vinyl release on Deep Explorer Records out of Spain. You know I'm excited about that. Nice to be a vinyl lover and have your own stuff pressed on vinyl!!

Two Tons: Martha Wash & Izora Armstead - Get The Feeling

This is my first CD rip. I recently purged almost all my cds trying to make way for vinyl. So I copied most that I sold before selling. Here is one that I actually decided against selling cause its too hard to find the releases on vinyl. I love it. Its so classic and I'm sure you'll enjoy Sylvester's two main ladies as much as I do.

Melba Moore - Never Say Never

I am a new fan of Melba. I just won 11 of her albums on ebay. This and one other I got before that though. This one here, "Never Say Never", is my new currant favorite record I'm spinning. Its pure Boogie bliss. I hope you all like it. For those who are familiar with Boogie Times you'll be familiar with the sounds laid down here. Smooth 80s grooves.

Constellation Orchestra - Perfect Love Affair (LP)

Disco would have a big gaping hole in it the size of the one in the Ozone layer if it wasn't for Prelude Records. This record right here has got to be one of my all time favorites of the Prelude library and amongst my top records in all disco. This record right here makes me wish I was born in the early 60s so I could have been livin' it up in NYC at all the hottest discos losing my mind to "Perfect Love Affair" and "Dancing Angel" which are 2 of my favorite of the 4 tracks laid down on this album. Now in case you didn't know CO was a band that didn't really exist. It was a concept album that used the same line up as most of the other one offs on Prelude's disco ventures in the late 70s. I discovered them via a Johnny Fiasco sample used on one of his tracks during the Cajual days. I hope ya'll live for this one the way I do.

Temptations - Hear To Tempt You

Its been a while since I've been here to tempt you so I thought I'd let the Temps help me. Here is an excellent Philly Soul/Disco classic by way of Detroit's own Temptations. You all may have noticed by now that I'm not big on writing. I prefer to let the music speak for itself. I skipped a couple cuts I didn't like and it took me a while to get the noise reduction process to an acceptable standard, and I have a high standard. Enjoy ya'll.

Scherrie & Susaye - Partners

I decided to give this another go round. I have new noise reducing software that just works like a charm. The original rip I did had a lot of his and background noise. It was really annoying. I'm so happy to share this with the world with out the noise previously present.

Enjoy the only release from the dynamic duo of Scherrie Paybe (sister of Freda Payne) and Susaye Green, then Susaye Green-Browne. They formed this duo after the collapse or disolution of The Supremes and said it was supposed to be a Trio but they couldn't find anyone short enough to match them. LOL.

Let it be known that one of my favorite tracks "In The Night", featuring Susaye Green's lead vocals, is most definitely about a booty call. "and if you feel the need in me comin' over you... in the night... don't be shy about you.. you call meeeee." If that's not a invitation for a bootie call I don't know what is. LOL. Susaye Green's voice is just mezmorizing on "When The Day Comes Every Night". I don't mind admitting I enjoyed every minute of having to play it over and over to get the noise reduction just perfect.

Storybook Romance lets Scherrie shine and you can really hear a family resemblance and bit of a vocal trowback to sister Freda Payne's "Livin' For The Beat."

Luvbug is a Funky little number featuring Ray Charles as the Luvbug in question. Its one of my favorite tracks the majority of the world has likely never heard.

My final stand out pic for the release is "I Found Another Love." Its a great disco song of triumph over bad love. Its amazing. I'm sure you all will play it over and over as I have.

Enjoy it. (Click The Pic)

Noise Reduction

Hey ya'll its your deep groove hostess here with a sound wave update for ya. I was recently gifted with some excellent noise reducing software so I'm going to be redoing most of my blogs. I hated that there was a buzzing/humming high pitched sound from my USB turntable. Being a bit of audiophile I couldn't stand hearing that shit. Plus I felt guilty about putting out substandard rips for other audiophiles. So look forward to all my new rips being noise free.

Hey also its nice to know people enjoy what they download. So feel free to comment on the downloads you download. I mean I know I'm a new blogger but I would like feed back. Thanks.

Tasha Thomas - Midnight Rendezvous (New Link)

Tasha Thomas's Midnight Rendezvous is one I didn't catch the magnificence on the first spin 'round. So it sat in my collection for a bit. I pulled it out to play and I was stunned. I mean I couldn't believe it hadn't hit me like it did this time. I'm in love with this album. Makes me sad Tasha Thomas passed in 1985 and no more splender could come from her. There is one track that, while its not my favorite, sounds like a Masters At Work joint, its called "You Put The Music In Me." That track could have been made in the mid 90s for sure when MAW was making all those great throwbacks to the disco era's greatness. Don't sleep on this one like I did. All deep disco heads are gonna gag on this one. Enjoy.

Stephanie Mills - Tantalizingly Hot (new link)

Not much I can say about this release then it is absolutely stellar. I'm so happy to have it in my collection. Its an excellent example of the great music that came about when producers started toning down disco to create boogie master pieces in the early 80s.

Ms. Stephanie Mills tells it like it T I is on this release. Keep Away Girls is so classic. Its a perfect bitch track pushed through with the utmost of class and sass. She was lettin' sneaky females know that they need to step off and "do it movin'" (as they say in San Francisco), or suffer the consequences. LOL. She lived for that one.

'Ole Love and I Can't Give Back The Love really make me feel about my most recent failed relationship. She really speaks to women with those two tracks. Its so hard to let go of good love.

So let me wipe my tears and let you all enjoy this masterpiece.

Clifton Dyson - Slow Your Body Down 1981

Check this rare boogie from 1981. Side one is a continuous two part 17 minute track. I'm sure you'll dig it if you're into deep garage style grooves. This is something I discovered on youtube I think. I was able to score a re-issue for only $2.99. I was shocked.

Courtney Pine ft. Susaye Greene - Children of The Ghetto

As I said I've gotten into all things late Supremes and Post-Supremes. So here is another adition. Hope you enjoy this beautiful jazz cut featuring Susaye Greene's beautiful vocals and the hypnotic sax stylings of Courtney Pine.
